Superintendent's Message

We are in full swing, as this has been one of the best starts in GP history.  Speaking for the staff, we truly appreciate your cooperation and patience as these first weeks always present some challenges and/or transition obstacles.

One of my favorite times of the year is when we kick off the first few days of school.  Of course, it is great to watch the excitement of our students entering the building (and sometimes, the enthusiasm of our parents dropping their kiddos off and officially ending the summer break). But what I enjoy the most is observing the initial days of when our kids meet their teachers, and the energy that is witnessed in our hallways and classrooms.  I have been very fortunate to watch this “magic” over the years and at the same time, am so appreciative of the talents of our staff.

Prior to the first day for students, I had the privilege of speaking to our staff in the annual kick-off message.  I spoke about the origins of the GP WAY and reinforced that this slogan has more than words; rather, it is our approach to making a difference in student lives as well as emphasizing the importance of our heart and compassion with our daily approach.

The summer was extremely busy around the GP facilities.  I am very happy to report that the new entryway (vestibule) at GP Elementary has been constructed.  The main purpose of this project was to significantly increase the safety and security of the building, as the corridor offers an extra layer of protection for our students and staff.  Also, at the end of last year, a grant assisted us in installing AC in our Main Gym, which has been welcomed by many.  Of course, we begin the improvement project at Grant Park Elementary this fall.  I will keep you updated on both the timelines and improvements when finalized.
